Our story

On the initiative of Philippe Miserez, Gérald Langel and Robert Martinolli, the Cenas sleep medicine centre was created in December 1989 in Vandœuvres, and became the first sleep recording centre in Geneva to be equipped with a modern polysomnography examination system.

In the mid-1990s, Cenas added a rental service for CPAP machines used to treat sleep apnoea disorders in order to provide a comprehensive analysis and treatment offer to its patients. It also gradually built its network of partner specialist physicians.

From 2001 onwards, all sleep medicine centres were required to obtain accreditation. This new legislation gave legitimacy to sleep medicine.

And from 2010 onwards, Cenas continued its expansion by opening a consultation centre in Les Acacias and developing its comprehensive medical offer, including diagnosis, analysis, assessment and therapeutic treatment. In 2014, a new branch was set up at Hôpital de La Tour.

In 2017, the Cenas teams created the Swiss Sleep Day – in connection with the International Sleep Day – in order to raise awareness of sleep disorders. This annual event involves medical conferences and awareness-raising activities for the general public.

In 2020, with an ever-growing desire to develop sleep medicine in Geneva, Cenas opened a brand-new 700sqm centre in Chêne-Bourg with an increased capacity (4 rooms and 1 suite) and state-of-the-art equipment.
